Columbus police provided a funeral escort yesterday for a man who died trying to save a child from an icy pond on the far east side last week.
Police and other first responders treated the funeral of 30-year-old James Jenkins as that of a hero and fallen colleague. He died trying to rescue a 5-year-old child from the pond last Thursday night. The child later died at a local hospital.
