Backer Of Drug Price Relief Act Wants To Debate The Opposition

thebody.com

The man behind the fall statewide ballot initiative to cut the prices government pays for prescription drugs is challenging any pharmaceutical industry CEO to debate him. Michael Weinstein is CEO of the California-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation. He says he wants to address voters' questions about the Drug Price Relief Act. Weinstein accused opponents of misleading voters by downplaying connections to the pharmaceutical industry and failing to transparently report their sources of income. An opposition campaign spokesperson says debates are already airing statewide, and says drugmakers are their primary funders.
