Browns Draft Mayfield, OSU's Ward; Bengals Draft OSU's Price

elevenwarriors.com

The first round of the NFL Draft is complete and it was not without surprises.

The Cleveland Browns pulled off the first stunner of last  night by taking Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield with the first overall selection. The 2017 Heisman Trophy winner irked Ohio State fans when he planted the Oklahoma Sooners flag at midfield after his team beat the Buckeyes in Columbus last year. Mayfield has also had off-the-field problems including a run-in with the law. But Browns GM John Dorsey says he likes Mayfield's passion.
The Browns also surprised experts with the fourth overall pick, taking Ohio State cornerback Denzel Ward. Dorsey says Ward is fast and plays the kind of defense his team will run.  In an effort to improve a porous offensive line, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Ohio State center Billy Price  with the 21st overall pick. The Bengals have three picks in tonight's second and third rounds, while the Browns have three second round selections.
