CCS Board Member Among Finalists For City Council Seat

Columbus City Council has released the names of 15 finalists to fill two soon-to-be-vacant seats. 

Jaiza Page and Mike Stinziano were elected in November as Franklin County Judge and County Auditor respectively.   The finalists are:
 
Nicholas Bankston, Mayor Ginther's director of community affairs Lourdes Barroso De Padilla, director of the Latina Mentoring Academy
Stefanie Lynn Coe, Columbus Civil Service commissioner
Nancy Day-Achauer, United Methodist Church pastor and community activist
Rob Dorans, Columbus Recreation and Parks commissioner
Albert Edmonson, barbershop owner and community activist
Shayla Favor, Assistant City Attorney
Catherine Girves, executive director of Yay Bikes!
Chenelle Jones, Public Safety Programs chair at Franklin University
Marco Miller
Michelle Moskowitz Brown, executive director of Local Matters
Rick Neal, former Congressional candidate
Ramona Reyes, Columbus Board of Education member (she also applied to join council in 2014)
Sam Shim, Worthington School Board vice president and FCBank board member
Erin Synk, South Side Area Commission
 
The finalists were chosen from a pool of 56 applicants. Council will interview the candidates on December 10 and 11,  and January 8. A public hearing on Page's vacancy is scheduled for January 10.
 

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
