CCS Officials Say Budgetary Picture Is Improving

WCBE files

Columbus City Schools officials say the district's financial outlook has improved.

The district now believes fears about a funding crisis prompting budget cuts and tax increases by 2021 have been pushed back until 2024. Budget managers told the school board this week internal cuts, including the elimination of nearly 60 jobs coupled with three years of lower spending, have helped delay those worries. They hope to build on the momentum to make the district fully funded without a levy.
