CDC Says Ohio Had Third-Highest Rate Of Increase In Drug Overdose Deaths

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Ohio’s drug overdose death rate rose 39 percent between mid-2016 and mid-2017 — the third-largest increase of any state. More than 52 hundred Ohioans died during that period. The CDC says the national rate increase was 14.4, with nearly 67 thousand deaths.  The Ohio Department of Health says the state epidemic is growing due to the availability of fentanyl, but prescription drug abuse is declining.
