Central Ohio's Jobless Rate Hits 17-Year Low

State officials say central Ohio's unemployment rate for March reached a 17-year low.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the region's jobless rate fell two-tenths of a point from February to 3.5 percent, the lowest figure since May of 2001. The state says unemployment rates typically fall in March. The jobless rate for Columbus and Franklin County was 3.4 percent. Union, Licking, Fairfield and Madison counties all posted rates below four percent.
