Cincinnati's Failed Bid To Land Amazon HQ Included Billions In Tax Breaks

Cincinnati made a wide-ranging pitch to land Amazon's second headquarters by using urban cool and culture along with tax breaks.

The package Cincinnati, Hamilton County and neighboring northern Kentucky submitted included 3.1 billion dollars in tax breaks, and discounted parking for Amazon employees worth millions more. Officials proposed an "Amazon Prime" transportation line, and offered examples of Cincinnati's urban "renaissance," with arts, entertainment and heritage. The region was rejected because of a lack of high-tech workers.
