A Darke County man is going to the Philippines to help people affected by the typhoon. The volunteer identified by the American Red Cross only as "J.W." is a telecommunications specialist who helps restore communication to the hardest-hit areas. He is one of two Red Cross specialists dispatched to the Philippines, where an estimated ten-thousand people were killed by the Category Five typhoon.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
