The Community Shelter Board says its winter-overflow shelter on Industrial Mile Road in Franklin Township is staying open past its scheduled closing date of last Friday because of the unusually cold weather. The board says the 190-bed facility will close at the end of the month. A neighboring day care center had filed a lawsuit challenging the location of the shelter, but that lawsuit has been dropped.
