Farmworkers Group Starts Boycott Of Wendy's

A U.S. farmworkers coalition is launching a boycott against Dublin-based Wendy's. The Coalition of Immokalee Workers in Florida hopes the boycott will cause the chain to pay a penny-per-pound fee for its tomatoes to supplement some farmworkers' wages. The coalition is starting a 10-day series of demonstrations that it hopes will end in Palm Beach, near a home owned by Wendy's chair Nelson Peltz. The coalition is suing the town, saying it has been banned from demonstrating. The town says the demonstration may proceed. Wendy's has said it requires suppliers to follow a code of ethics and it is up to them to pay their employees.
