wksu.org

A former Kent State University professor and a pioneer of electronic music has died.  Halim El-Dabh passed away over the weekend at the age of 96.  The Egyptian-born musicologist manipulated recordings of ancient ceremonies to help launch the art of synthesized music in the early 1940s.  He taught at Kent State from 1969 to 2012.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
