The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Artemi Panarin, along with Tyler Motte and the Blackhawks' sixth-round selection in this weekend's NHL draft to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Brandon Saad, goaltender Anton Forsberg and a fifth-round pick next year. Saad played his first four NHL seasons with the Hawks before spending the last two with Columbus, tallying 24 goals and 29 assists this past season. Panarin won the Calder Trophy in 2016 and finished with 31 goals, 43 assists and 74 points last season. He was usually skating on Chicago's top line. Motte scored four goals and notched three assists in 33 games with the Blackhawks last season, his first year in the NHL.The Jackets also acquired center Jordan Schroeder from the Minnesota Wild for minor-league center Dante Salituro. Earlier this week, the Jackets traded their 2017 first round draft pick, a second round pick in the 2019 draft and forward David Clarkson to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for that team selecting forward William Karlsson in the Expansion Draft. General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen said he didn't want to lose Karlsson, but the goal was to keep the core of the team intact.
