WCBE was a fan of American sports and civil rights hero, Jackie Robinson, before being one was "cool."
Back in early winter 2007, WCBE music history reporter Jack Marchbanks researched, wrote and produced a retrospective on Jackie Robinson to note the 60th anniversary (April 15, 2007) of Robinson breaking the "color barrier" in major league baseball.
In light of the deserved success of the recent Hollywood biopic, 42, WCBE is re-broadcasting its Jackie Robinson special on Saturday May 18, 2013 at 3pm ET. "Jackie Robinson" features exclusive interviews from Negro Baseball League players who knew the legend and includes the timeless jazz, fifties rock and sixties soul music that was the soundtrack of Jackie's life.
