Judge Delays Tankovich Sentencing

wcbe files

A Franklin County judge this morning postponed sentencing for a key figure in the Columbus City Schools' attendance data fixing scandal. The judge says he needs more time to review a pre-sentencing report from the Ohio Department of Education about what Steve Tankovich told authorities about his role in the scandal. The same judge last month postponed sentencing after finding in another report discrepancies in Tankovich's statements. Tankovich has pleaded no-contest to charges of attempted tampering with government records. Prosecutors say Tankovich told school principals how to adjust attendance records, in order to improve the district's scores on state report cards.
