Judge Scheduled State Fair Ride Accident Settlement Hearing

U.S. Marine Corps via Associated Press

A judge has scheduled an April 18 hearing to consider approving a proposed 1.27 million dollar settlement of a lawsuit filed by the the family of the victim of last year's fatal ride accident at the Ohio State Fair.

The parents of Tyler Jarrell would receive most of the money, with the rest covering attorney fees and funeral costs. The proposal is a partial settlement with the ride's owner and two companies that inspected it. The family is continuing their case against the other defendants. Seven others were injured when the Fire Ball ride broke apart due to excessive corrosion of a support beam.
