A jury recommends that a central Ohio man convicted of killing a pregnant woman spend life in prison without parole instead of receiving the death penalty.
Jurors deliberated for several hours before reaching the recommendation today for 27-year-old Keywan Tarran Conner. A judge is expected to sentence Conner next month. Conner's trial became the first capital punishment case in Franklin County before a jury in nearly three years. He was convicted of killing Tenishia Latham but acquitted on a count of attempted murder involving her baby, who survived. Trial testimony included Latham's husband's account of surviving after being shot in the head in the February 2011 attack.
