Licking County, Elyria Joins Other Communities Suing Opioid Makers

Ohio Public Radio

Licking County and the City of Elyria are the latest Ohio communities to sue drug makers for the costs of the state's opioid epidemic.  County and city officials have voted to hire attorneys to draft their respective lawsuits. The suits will claim drug companies were not forthcoming about the addictive nature of their painkillers.  The county and city join Cleveland, Lorain, Dayton and others in trying to recoup money spent to treat opioid overdose victims.  The state has also filed a lawsuit against five drug makers. Those companies are asking a Ross County judge to dismiss that suit.
