Local Court Rejects ECOT's Request To Block Repayment Of State Money

The Franklin County Court of Appeals has denied a request by Ohio's largest online charter school operator to block the Ohio Department of Education from collecting 60 million dollars in payments. The dispute between the state and the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow centers on attendance-tracking practices used to determine state funding. The Ohio Board of Education takes up the issue next week. Statehouse lobbyist and ECOT spokesperson Neil Clark characterized one of the judges, Gary Tyack, as biased toward his client, online learning and school choice.
