Local Man Gets Probation For Killing Wife's Heroin Dealer

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

The Columbus man convicted of beating and killing his wife's drug dealer has been sentenced to two years' probation.  The judge who sentenced 38-year-old Edwin Sobony II says the defendant's lack of a criminal record is the main reason. Sobony beat and killed 46-year-old Larry Jewell last December at the couple's home. Jewell was also the cousin of Sobony's wife. Sobony says he repeatedly told Jewell to stay away.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
