Low Voter Turnout In Franklin County Mirrors State

The Ohio Secretary of State's office reports voter turnout for Tuesday's primary election was less than in the last comparable primary for governor and other statewide offices.

Elections officials say 16.65 percent of Ohio's registered voters cast ballots, compared with turnout of slightly more than 22 percent in the May 2010 primary. Franklin County's turnout came in nearly identical to the state's as officials say 16.56 percent or 131,911 of the county's 796, 483 registered voters cast a ballot in the primary. That includes 1,354 provisional ballots.
