The Marion County Clerk of Courts has resigned over accusations of late filings and uncollected property taxes.

Julie Kagel's resignation was announced Thursday as county officials began an audit of what could amount to nearly eight million dollars in uncollected revenue.  The Sheriff's Department says there is  a large backlog in the processing of court records which may have allowed convicted felons to be issued concealed carry licenses.  The search for a successor begins next week.
