In an effort to reduce the use of antibiotics, new guidelines are out on child ear infections and how physicians should treat them. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends several ways to treat the infection based on the child's age and severity of the symptoms. Cleveland clinic Pediatrician Emma Raizman.
Raizman says the guidelines also have more strict criteria for determining whether a child has an ear infection so doctors should be able to prescribe medication more effectively.
