New Tennant Approved For Former Restaurant Chain HQ Building

Columbus City Council last night approved legislation allowing the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging to move into the former Bob Evans Headquarters building on South High Street. The legislation approves spending 4 million dollars. The restaurant chain moved its headquarter to New Albany four years ag0 thanks to state and local tax breaks. Council also voted against two measures on the ballot. One would have banned fracking in the city. The other, sponsored by the Columbus Coalition for Responsive Government - a long-time city hall critic - would have changed council's makeup from 7 at-large seats to four at-large seats and seven ward seats. Officials say neither measure had enough valid petition signatures to go before the voters. Backers of both measures say they will try again next year.
