Newspaper Photographer Shot By Sheriff's Deputy Files Lawsuit

facebook.com

A newspaper photographer who was shot by a Clark County Sheriff's deputy has filed an excessive use of force lawsuit.

Andy Grimm of the New Carlisle News is suing deputy Jacob Shaw and the city of New Carlisle.  Grimm claims Shaw wrongfully shot him in September as he was photographing a traffic stop. The lawsuit also says the sheriff's office has withheld information in the shooting and retaliated against the newspaper. Shaw and city officials have yet to comment. The newspaper reported that the deputy mistook Grimm's camera for a weapon.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
