State prisons officials say a death row inmate who attempted suicide following an assault on a prison guard has died.
30-year-old Byron Goodrich was taken off life support at a Columbus hospital on Wednesday and his organs were donated. Goodrich tried to hang himself at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville on Sunday after last week's attack on the guard. Goodrich assaulted a guard at the Ross Correctional Institution on April 12.
