Ohio Second In Midwest In Fatal Workplace Accidents

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Ohio is second in the midwest for the number of workers killed on the job this past fiscal year, behind Illinois.

The  agency investigated 52 fatal work-related accidents in Ohio and 56 in Illinois between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015. Preliminary figures had shown Ohio leading the region. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics records show Ohio is one of 24 states with an increase in fatal occupational injuries in calendar year 2014. OSHA officials say lack of attention to safe work practices is one factor they believe has led to the increases.
