OHP Commander Fired After Stalking Wife Of Former Trooper

newsandsentinel.com

An Ohio Highway patrol post commander accused of having an affair with a subordinate's wife last year and stalking her after she ended it has been fired. Records obtained by the Associated Press show Lieutenant William Elschlager of the Marietta post was fired in February, citing rule violations and conduct unbecoming an officer. Elschlager was charged with felony menacing by stalking and an abduction count related to a traffic stop in which he allegedly used a patrol vehicle to stop the woman for speeding. His attorney has raised questions in court about the accuser's credibility, saying she acknowledged continuing to have contact with Elschlager and joining him on a cruise to the Caribbean. Elschlager has been on home confinement under conditions of bond.
