Pfeiffer Says Redflex Contracts Reached, Amended Legally Under Municipal Codes

youtube

Columbus city attorney Rick Pfeffer says the city's contract with a red-light traffic camera company embroiled in a federal bribery investigation was properly awarded and later modified. Pfeiffer says the process involving Redflex complied with municipal ordinances. Columbus Council President and Democratic Mayoral candidate Andy Ginther, who federal law enforcement sources have told WCBE is a target of their investigation, asked for Pfeiffer's review. Ginther and Mayor Michael Coleman have been subpoenaed for records related to the Redflex deals. Former Redflex CEO Karen Finley pleaded guilty last month to charges of bribing city officials in Columbus and Cleveland in exchange for obtaining and/or maintaining municipal contracts.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
