Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio told reporters during a conference call Tuesday this might be the time for lawmakers to ban the use of bump stocks.

Portman says he has supported expanding background checks for gun purchases, and it might be time for the nation to enact Ohio's 30-round limit on magazines. Portman says he's considering supporting legislation raising the age for purchasing rifles.
