Racial Discrimination Lawsuits Against CDP Moved To Federal Court

WCBE files

The Columbus Division of Police and Chief Kim Jacobs are defendants in two federal lawsuits alleging racial discrimination within the agency.

Both suits, which have been moved to federal court, claim the same white sergeant discriminated against two African-American officers.  One of those officers is no longer with the division and the other remains on duty. Each lawsuit seeks monetary damages of at least 25-thousand dollars.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
