Records Review: Thousands Of Ohio Vets Wait 31 Days Or More For Appointments At VA Clinics

An Associated Press records review shows the Portsmouth Veterans Affairs medical facility is among 75 VA clinics and hospitals across the country with the highest percentage of patients waiting at least 31 days for care. The review of VA data on wait times for 940 outpatient clinics and hospitals shows the Portsmouth clinic leads Ohio with nearly 5.7 percent of its appointments delayed for at least 30 days. The national average is 2.8 percent. A clinic spokesperson says more staff is being added thanks to congressional funding. Nearly 26 thousand of Ohio's more than 1.1 million appointments were delayed at least 31 days.
