Report Highlights Housing Shortage, Calls For Regional Cooperation

A new report says central Ohio needs more than 14,000 new housing units annually to accommodate the region's anticipated job and population growth over the next 30 years.

The Building Industry Association of Central Ohio released the report at Wednesday's Columbus Metropolitan Club forum. Executive director Jon Melchi says the housing shortfall stems from a combination of things.

M/I Homes CEO Bob Schottenstein agrees.

The CMC panel called for a regional summit to address the housing shortage.  According to estimates, central Ohio will add 1 million new residents and 500,000 jobs by the year 2050
