The Ohio Board of Pharmacy today is scheduled to announce where 56 medical marijuana dispensaries will be located in 28 geographic districts.
There were 376 applications. The board has been getting background checks and verifying proposed locations are at least 500 feet from schools and churches. The sites that are selected will be allowed to sell medical marijuana to qualified and registered patients who have received recommendations from a state-approved list of doctors. Two districts in western Ohio won't get dispensaries yet because there were no qualified applicants. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports Ohio's medical marijuana program has collected 5.2 million dollars in non-refundable application fees. Cultivators who get a provisional growing license will pay 2.6 million in licensing fees, and another 2.6 million for renewals.
