Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is investigating whether Wright State University in Dayton and its consultant violated lobbying laws when the school paid him nearly 2 million dollars without prior approval from the state Controlling Board.
Ohio law mandates public universities get board approval for lobbying contracts exceeding 50 thousand dollars in a calendar year. Wright State officials say consultant Ron Wine, of Dayton-based Ron Wine Consulting Group, is not operating as a lobbyist.
