Columbus, OH – Opponents of the cameras Ohio cities like Columbus are using to catch red-light runners and speeders have claimed the sytems are simply a way to raise revenue. But Columbus officials say the cameras are protecting public safety. Newly released figures from the Columbus Division of Police show that crashes in the city have dropped since the camera system was put in place at various intersections about a year ago.
