2013 was a year of progress when it comes to development in downtown Columbus. Officials formally announced plans to redevelop Franklinton and the Scioto Peninsula, and City Council recently approved plans for two residential projects near Columbus Commons Park. Those projects bring to 6 thousand the total number of downtown housing units. In 2002, Mayor Michael Coleman said he wanted to see 10 thousand housing units created in ten years. In this installment of WCBE's annual end-of-the-year interview with the Mayor, Coleman talks about the various plans and why that downtown housing goal was not achieved.
