Train Derails At Busy NW Ohio Crossing

Authorities say more than a dozen cars on an eastbound train derailed at a road crossing in northwestern Ohio. No injuries were reported from this mornings derailment on Norfolk Southern tracks west of Toledo, a few miles north of the Ohio Turnpike. Authorities say 15 or 16 cars went off the tracks, with a dozen of them tipping near the crossing. The cause of the derailment wasn't immediately clear. The Springfield Township fire chief says the train was hauling sand. He says the intersection tends to have traffic backups and it was fortunate no traffic was waiting at the crossing when the derailment occurred.
