Three Central Ohio Levies To Appear On Fall Ballots

Voters in two Central Ohio counties will see a total of three levy requests on their ballots in the fall. Jim Letizia reports.

Franklin County Commissioners have voted to place a 10 year, 1.9-mill renewal levy for the county Children Services agency on the November ballot. The levy would generate 46 million dollars a year, a quarter of the agency's budget. The agency had sought a higher amount in the winter, but changed that after voters soundly defeated the Columbus Zoo levy last May. Licking County voters will decide the fate of two levies placed on the November ballot. Licking County Commissioners have approved placing a 10 year, 1-mill children services levy on the ballot. They are also placing a 5 year, 1.2-mill renewal levy for senior services before the voters. The levies would generate a combined 8.3 million dollars. Because all three measures are renewals, officials say the tax burden for voters will be unchanged.
