Democratic Party Committee Wraps Up Columbus Visit

Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman says the city has the facilities and the ability to host the Democratic Party's 2016 national convention.  Coleman made the remarks yesterday as a technical advisory team from the Democratic National Committee concluded its two-day visit.  The team got a driving tour of the city and saw its convention center, arena, science museum and other attractions.   Athens County native and former DNC chair David Wilhelm selected Chicago for the 1996 convention. He thinks Columbus is as well positioned now as Chicago was then.

Columbus is one of five cities competing for the convention. Cleveland dropped its bid last month, having landed the 2016 Republican convention.
