No New Measles Cases Since Mid July

Local and state health officials say no measles cases have been reported since mid-July, while mumps cases continue to be tallied. 377 cases of measles have been reported in nine counties, with the last reported on July 23. The state will consider the outbreak officially over at the conclusion of two 21-day incubation periods. Measles are at a two-decade high in the United States, driven by outbreaks among unvaccinated Amish people in Knox County who recently visited the Philippines. Columbus Public Health officials are working with schools to ensure student vaccinations are current. The agency says two to five cases of mumps have been reported each week for the past month.
