Ohio Groups Get Nearly $1.9M To Assist Homeless Veterans

Eleven Ohio agencies will receive nearly $1.9 million to help homeless veterans find and maintain permanent housing.

The funding announced last week by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs provides vouchers to help more than 300 homeless Ohio veterans find housing. The federal program offers rental assistance provided by HUD with case management and clinical services provided by the VA. Nationally, the program will make nearly $65 million available to help more than 93,000 homeless veterans. VA medical centers assess homeless veterans before referring them to local housing agencies for the vouchers. Decisions are based on factors including how long veterans have been homeless and their need for longer-term, more intensive support in getting and maintaining permanent housing.
