Authorities Indicate Akron Overdose Deaths May Have Links To Columbus, Cincinnati

The large-animal sedative being mixed with heroin in Akron, where more than a dozen people died of overdoses so far this month, is making its way to Montgomery County. Sheriff's deputies say carfentanyl is being mixed with heroin in Columbus and Cincinnati, and will soon be in the Dayton area. Carfentanyl is ten-thousand times stronger than the current heroin additive fentanyl. Akron police say in less than 21 days, nearly 170 people have overdosed with more than ten-percent being deadly. Akron investigators believe the sedative is making its way to the community from China, but police have not been able to find the supplier.
