Franklin County BOE Director Resigns

Franklin County Board of Elections director William Anthony formally resigned on Friday, following his indictment last month on charges of tampering with records and theft in office. The board placed Anthony on leave in mid-July and later extended that leave to give him a chance to step aside. Anthony - the former director of the Franklin County Democratic Party - and former board fiscal officer Brenna Umbstaetter have pleaded not guilty in a case involving allegedly bogus time sheets. A search for a successor is expected to formally begin on Monday.
