Circleville To Reduce Number Of Railroad Crossings
The City of Circleville, where trains sometimes block responders during emergencies, will reopen an old fire station on the other side of the tracks by the end of the year. Officials are also trying to find funding for an overpass above one of the city's 19 rail crossings. Mayor Don McIlroy says Norfolk Southern wants to close some of the crossings, which would require it to compensate the city. He says the closures would free up federal money that could go toward the overpass. McIlroy says he plans to ask state lawmakers to help him secure funding in the fall.
