Columbus Police Will Stop Holding Sobriety Checkpoints Next Year

Columbus police will no longer conduct sobriety checkpoints.  Chief Kim Jacobs has declined to accept a federal grant to fund the checkpoints in 2017.  The Ohio Traffic Safety Office says it was told the checkpoints are not an efficient use of safety personnel. The Franklin County OVI task force will continue to conduct sobriety checkpoints.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
