Former Mount Vernon Cop Gets Six Years For Selling Drugs On The Job

Federal Bureau of Investigation

A former Mt. Vernon police detective charged with drug trafficking and extortion has been sentenced to six years in prison. Prosecutors say Matthew Dailey sold narcotics, extorted people and used a firearm in drug-trafficking activities while on the job. Dailey's attorney says he became addicted to prescription painkillers after sustaining an injury while arresting a suspect.
