March For Science Planned This Weekend In Columbus And Hundreds Of Other Cities

Demonstrations will be held this weekend in Columbus and nearly 500 other cities around the world to promote awareness of and investments in science.

The March For Science also includes 11 other Ohio cities. On Saturday,  protestors in Columbus will march from the Statehouse to Columbus Commons.  An organizer of the Columbus event, Laura Sammons, says the goal is to make sure elected leaders and others know the value of science and the need for evidence-based policies.

Many in the scientific community are concerned about President Trump's proposal to cut the U.S. EPA's budget by 31 percent, his denial of humanity's role in climate change, and his silencing of federal scientists and national park employees. Aenna Antonucci, a scientist and P-H-D student at Ohio State University, notes the events are happening on Earth Day.
