Former state senator and Ohio Democratic Party chair Harry Meshel died Monday at the age of 93 after a lenghty illness. The Youngstown-area Democrat began his decades-long political career organizing for then-presidential candidate John F. Kennedy in 1960. Meshel resigned from the senate in 1993 to lead his party for two years.
