Estate Of Man Who Died After Being Arrested By Columbus Police Files Lawsuit

flypapermagazine.com

Columbus city officials are still not commenting on a federal civil rights lawsuit alleging police mishandled the arrest of a man on drugs who later died in a hospital. 36-year-old Jaron Thomas' estate claims officers were improperly trained and supervised in handling individuals with mental health problems. Thomas had schizophrenia. The suit says police punched, body-slammed and kneed Thomas on January 14, causing his death.  Thomas had called 911 because of hallucinations and an adverse reaction to cocaine.
